A poetry and photography zine made from a multi-medium project by Noname. 4 color saddle-stitched riso printed book in aqua, light lime, scarlet, and midnight.
For the past two years i have been forming this work that is now finally coming into form. In 2024 I was living in Athens and Tbilisi, I had most of the year been documenting my life on my childhood miniDV camcorder. At the end of the year i brought my 6 hours of footage to a development shop in exarcheia. The shop owner would continue to ask for more time over months and my many visits. I discovered he had been watching my tapes over and over again, which lead to the tapes being seriously damaged. The tapes went through more damage when they were confiscated by German police, unwound and viewed before i returned to the United States. After nearly 6 months of careful repair by hand the tapes were restored and digitized. Leaving the final images to have a fragmentation that layers pieces of itself on top of one another. This specific kind of distortion being impossible for me to recreate exactly like itself.
The work became about the preservation of memory, of the evidence of life/my life, evidence of the people I love. What I would go through and the time I would give to ensure that, that past is not lost.
