So begins the rallying cry of Jackson Ribler, seventh generation Floridian and proudly self-identified Florida Man. Taking as inspiration Oswald de Andrade’s cannibal manifesto and the antropofagia movement, Ribler stakes out a space of brackish liberation from butt-of-the-joke northeastern scorn. By turns earnest and ironic, the Florida Man(ifesto) speaks from problematic pasts towards the contradictory aesthetics and possibilities of his homeland.
